10s SG N71 Bright blue (Bright metallic blue) shade in an u/mint corner marginal block of four.
10s 1918 SG N71 Bright blue (Bright metallic blue) shade in an u/mint corner marginal block of four.
This shade is listed on Page 195 in Stanley Gibbons specialised catalogue 2015 edition.
This rare shade is much brighter than any of the basic listed shades including the scarce Steel blue
and it comes from Bradbury Wilkinson’s first series from 1919-1925.
The block has been mounted in the top margin only and all stamps are superb unmounted mint although there are
a couple of nibbled perforations at bottom right. .
All stamps have the Broken “S” in Postage variety from Plate 1/3.
It is described by Stanley Gibbons on Page 195 as a very rare shade, something I agree with.
This is the first block of four of this rare shade I have seen in over 40 years in philately. A very special and remarkable item.
With Hendon certificate.
